Hair Growth: Maximize your potential

Being of African-American descent, it is believed by society that WE as a race are not able to have long healthy flowing gorgeous hair but I'm here to tell you THAT IS NOT THE CASE!!! Achieving long flowy locs of beautiful tresses is very much possible, doable, and achievable (just check out the hair community on YouTube), but in order to get the results that you seek you have to be willing to put in the work.

A lot of times we tend to become impatient about growing our hair (esp. the TWA sisters) I know because I've been there, but truth be told one of the key component that contributes to hair length is patience. Too many times we tend to jump on the band wagon of that "miracle product" in hopes of growing our hair long and fast only to realize that the SECRET to long healthy hair is but a simple formula known as NATURE+NURTURE+TIME

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN...

Nature:

Naturally hair grows in cycles through different phases and because we can fall under any phase of the cycle at any given time we must learn to recognize each separate phases individually. Hair cycle plays a major role in our hair growth because each phase has their own time frame with triggers that can modify the life expectancy for that particular phase.

Afro textured hair has an average of about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch a month (slow huh), but unfortunately that is the norm for just about most of us sistah's. Afro-Hair-Care.com offers many tips, suggestions and advice that can be done to help you improve stimulation and obtain growth especially in those stubborn areas.

Nurture:

Nurture means exactly what you know it to mean and that is to feed, protect and train, to nourish etc. through proper care. In order to do that you have to educate yourself about YOUR HAIR, I emphasize YOUR HAIR because some people allow frustration to build up and get to them because a certain product, routine, or regimen doesn't suite their life like it does the next person so ultimately they run into irritation and resentment about their hair and that is never a good place to be.

Hair nurture comes from hair knowledge and you do that by learning to listen to your hair. 9 times out of 10 our hair tells us exactly what it needs (i.e.) when to trim, when to wash, when to moisturize and so on. We just need to be persistent and persevere especially through the rough and tough times and this brings me right to my last and extremely vital formula below

Time:

Time, time, time, one of the precious things we take for granted and cannot get back once it's gone. For many of us time is very valuable and needs to be managed correctly in order to get things done and goals achieved, so we cannot sit and fret or pout when something goes wrong with our hair once we have decided to take the path to healthy long hair.

LONG hair is a result of HEALTHY hair in which you achieve through proper care of your hair and body and to do that it's going to take some time. Time learning what your hair want, needs, and can tolerate. Time to allow for a proper response from products, treatments, and tools. Your hair will response to certain things quicker then others, but you are going to have to learn the principles of the three P's which are PATIENCE, PERSISTENCE, PERSEVERENCE

WITH THAT SAID

Many factors come to play when it comes to growing our hair long and strong. In conjunction with a regular hair routine, you need to care for your hair from within the body as well, for the most part your hair reflects the overall condition of your body.

If your body is healthy and well nourished, your hair will be your proud and shining glory reflecting the hard efforts contributed to keeping it (and your body) healthy. The food you consume play a major role in your hair growth not to mention your overall well-being. If you are having any health problems or suffering from any nutritional deficiencies, your hair may stop growing or show signs of damage.

A proper diet in nutrition, vitamins & minerals play a major role in healthy hair growth. Any deficiency in these departments can lead to gradual thinning of hair or even baldness.

Some of the nutritional elements play an important role in hormone metabolism that affects the hair growth and hair loss to a large extent. It is a well known fact that an under active thyroid can result in frizzy or brittle hair while an overactive thyroid turn hair greasy and limp.

A natural nutritious diet with vitamins and minerals are the best and safest way to enhance your hair growth capability. Find exactly which foods and vitamins you should be incorporating in your daily diet to help maximize it's growing potential.
